Oh Pray Tell

Oh Pray Tell is a multidisciplinary trio that blends music, spoken word and clowning to tell deeply personal and thought-provoking stories. With their powerful three-part harmonies and a blend of cajon rhythms, banjo, and stand-up bass, their sound is rooted in soul, gospel, roots, and rhythm & blues. Their performances explore themes like death, belonging, identity, racism, parenthood, and grief, and combine humility, reverence, humour, and sass to make complex topics accessible and relatable. They invite audiences to reflect on the human experience, offering catharsis and connection beyond the traditional concert format. With new music on the horizon and a tour through the Kootenays, Lower Mainland, and Gulf Islands in April/May 2025, they’re set to captivate audiences with a unique, immersive performance experience.

Oh Pray Tell was founded in 2015 by Sally Titasey and Betty Supple, initially as a stomp/clap and harmony duo dedicated to exploring themes of social justice and the human condition through their music. Their project flourished as a labor of love over the years. In 2021, they received an email from multi-disciplinary artist Shayna Jones, who resonated with their work and wanted to collaborate.

Excited by the connection, the trio met in June 2021 at the Langham Theatre in Kaslo, BC, for a day of collaborative exploration. This creative spark led to the theater booking them for their 2022 Summer Concert Series, where they performed for an enthusiastic audience of over 80 people after three days of rehearsals.

A few months later, they reunited in Kaslo for another three-day residency, culminating in a sold-out show at the Langham Theatre and a standing ovation. This success solidified their bond, and in January 2024, Shayna officially joined Oh Pray Tell. The trio committed to building a project with both creative momentum and financial sustainability.

Shayna Jones (she/her) is an unabashedly Afro-centric multidisciplinary spoken word artist. As an award winning actor, a folklorist, and a traditional oral storyteller, Shayna labors to deeply honor and amplify her west African/African diasporic heritage through her work as an artist.

Sally Titasey (she/they) is a musician, writer, somatic practitioner, death doula and therapist-in-training of Torres Strait Islander, Australian aboriginal, Malaysian, Indonesian, Polynesian, English, Scottish and Western European descent. She identifies as a Torres Strait Islander and a queer person of color living as a settler and uninvited guest on unceded Sinixt Territory.

Betty Supple (she/they) is a multidisciplinary artist and descendent of settlers from England, Ireland and Scotland, born and raised on the traditional territories of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and Huron Wendat Peoples. She’s a musician, clown, writer, performance artist, neurodivergent social experimenter, design and artistic event collaborator.

Common threads they work with include death, belonging, ancestral connection, identity, impacts of colonialism, storytelling, vocal harmonies, body percussion improvisation, embodied storytelling, clowning and somatic regulation.
