The Mary Winspear Centre Foundation
The Mary Winspear Centre Foundation formally SANSCHA Community Cultural Centre Foundation (SCCCF) was created by the Sidney and North Saanich Memorial Park Society in 1996 for the purpose of raising funds to revitalize and expand SANSCHA Hall and create in its place a new facility. To this end a $6 million capital fundraising campaign Honouring the Past - Building for the Future was launched in the spring of 1999.
The revitalized SANSCHA Hall - now the Mary Winspear Centre, a modern new facility better able to meet the community and cultural needs of the area - opened its doors in September of 2001. The campaign theme stressed the importance of honouring the memorial nature of the land and the generous spirit and memory of community members whose original vision in 1921 saw the creations of SANSCHA lands and, subsequently, in 1958 the building of SANSCHA Community Hall. It highlights the importance of using these earlier beginnings as a foundation on which to continue to evolve this community legacy for generations to come.
AGM will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at 5pm.
