The Bluegrass Extravaganza brings together the best Bluegrass performers on Vancouver Island for a special matinee show that will feature classic Bluegrass, genre bending New Grass, and one of the country’s greatest up and coming roots artists.
BC’s most exciting Newgrass band! The Unfaithful Servants have gained a reputation in Western Canada as a must-see act. With an original and exciting approach to acoustic music, the group serves up explosive instrumentals, compelling story-telling and high-powered vocals. As Kelly Nakatsuka (Islands Folk Festival, CBC host) describes "The Unfaithful Servants are one of the most exciting bands from Vancouver Island in some time...gorgeous harmonies and fine song writing, beautiful instrumental interplay and some seriously rippin' solos." With critically acclaimed performances under their belt (Vancouver Island MusicFest, Salmon Arm Roots & Blues, The Islands Folk Festival) and a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination (New Group of The Year) they continue to build upon that buzz. The band remains anchored by the virtuosic mandolin playing of Jesse Cobb and the prolific songwriting of Dylan Stone. They are excited to be joined by new members, young talent Quin Etheridge (Quin with one N) on fiddle and Louis Rudner on bass.
The Clover Point Drifters are a traditional bluegrass band hailing from Vancouver Island, blending classic sounds with a lively spirit. Their music echoes the roots of bluegrass, filled with the rich harmonies and driving rhythms that make you want to tap your feet. As they put it, “The Clover Point Drifters have a deep love and respect for traditional bluegrass music, but they also enjoy having fun with the music and making people laugh.” Tthey bring warmth and authenticity to every performance that captures the authenticity and honesty of old-time bluegrass music.
Ella Korth is a singer-songwriter and driving guitar and banjo player. Growing up in a family heavily immersed in the acoustic music scene created a lifelong passion for both bluegrass and old-time music, which Ella brings to her craft. “In a few short years, Ella has gone from emerging talent to rising star in Canadian bluegrass and acoustic music.” - Cowichan Valley Bluegrass Festival
