A chance-meeting at a folk festival almost thirty years ago has led to a musical collaboration between two singer-songwriters, James Keelaghan from Canada and Jez Lowe from England, that has seen them play to audiences around the globe, from North America to Australia and to Europe, and which continues to this day.
Every couple of years they each take a break from their busy solo careers to share stages and songs and inspire each other with their voices, their wit and a friendship that lights up each performance. The pair share an Irish heritage that certainly informs their writing and brings with it an enthusiasm for boundary-breaking and story-telling in song that is both infectious and enthralling, timeless and contemporary, unpredictable and yet focused. In other words, they surely and inevitably bring the best out of each other.
James Keelaghan
Called Canada’s finest singer-songwriter by one of the most respected and lauded music journalists of the last 50 years, James Keelaghan is an artist who has proven to be a man for all seasons. As the calendar pages have turned, for almost a quarter of a century now, this poet laureate of the folk and roots music world has gone about his work with a combination of passion, intent and intensity, and curiosity. Fusing his insatiable appetite for finding the next unique storyline Keelaghan also forges his pieces with brilliantly defined craftsmanship and a monogrammed artistic vision, making him one of the most distinctive and readily identifiable voices of not only the Canadian scene, but as a member of the international singer-songwriter community.

Jez Lowe
Over the past four decades, Jez Lowe has been one of the UK’s busiest singer-songwriters, playing for audiences the world over, either solo, (with guitar, cittern, mandolin and harmonica accompaniment), or with his long-time band The Bad Pennies. He has taken his songs of North-East England to concerts and festivals all across Europe, Canada and the USA, as well as building a sizeable following in Australia and New Zealand. Along the way he has gathered a long list of awards and nominations, including from the BBC Folk Awards and the Sony Radio Awards. His pace and enthusiasm for writing, performing and touring shows no sign of waning.
